To our great Syrian people, to the people of our united homeland from the Jazira to the coast, from Sweida to Aleppo:
We, in the Syrian Future Movement, while affirming our commitment to the unity of Syria’s land, people, and sovereignty, address you today with a national message bearing within it hope for a future worthy of the sacrifices of our people and our ancient history.
We followed with great concern the demonstrations that took place in Sweida Governorate on August 16, 2025, during which some raised slogans of “self-determination” and foreign flags that contradict our unifying national identity.
We, in the Syrian Future Movement, categorically reject any calls aimed at tearing apart our national fabric or inviting foreign interventions that seek to exploit the delicate circumstances our country is experiencing.
Sweida, the beating heart of Syria, has been and will remain a symbol of pride and dignity, and its Druze people are an integral part of our Syrian identity. We call on our people in Sweida to engage in national dialogue under the umbrella of the state, far from any attempts to sow discord or division. We affirm that solutions come through our unity, not through calls for secession that serve foreign agendas.
On the other hand, we express our pride and appreciation for the national spirit manifested in the Syrian coastal governorates, where our people, led by our Alawites, joined the efforts of the Civil Defense and the Red Crescent to combat the forest fires that ravaged the Ghab Plain and Latakia. This solidarity, which transcended all sectarian barriers and fears, is a living embodiment of the meaning of national unity we seek.
The participation of the people of the coast in relief efforts and firefighting, without fear or hesitation, reflects their deep belief that Syria is a homeland for all, and that crises can only be overcome through solidarity.
We also appreciate the decision to remove the General Security checkpoints in the Alawite regions, which represents a courageous step toward strengthening trust between the state and its citizens and rebuilding the bridges of love that the forces of darkness have sought to destroy.
We, in the Syrian Future Movement, warmly welcome the historic visit of His Beatitude John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, to President Ahmad al-Shara’a. This visit comes in the context of strengthening national unity and represents a pivotal moment in our journey toward a unified Syria.
The Orthodox Church’s support for the political transition, and His Beatitude’s emphasis on the Church’s national role in preserving the Syrian fabric, sends a strong message that Syria will never be anything but a homeland of pluralism and tolerance.
We highly value this stance and call for enhanced dialogue among all religious and social components to consolidate a new social contract that guarantees justice and equality for all.
Syria today stands at a crossroads: between the path of unity and solidarity and the path of division and strife.
We, in the Syrian Future Movement, believe that a nation can only be built through dialogue and justice, and that trust between the state and its people is the fundamental foundation of our renaissance. Accordingly, we call on the transitional government to open immediate channels of dialogue with our people in Sweida to address their legitimate demands within the framework of national unity. We urge all political and social forces to reject hate speech and secessionism.
We also call on the international community to support reconstruction efforts instead of exploiting our people’s wounds.
Syria is a land of history and civilization, and the cradle of pluralism and coexistence. Let us make the demonstrations of solidarity on the coast, the Patriarch’s visit to the People’s Palace, and the steadfastness of our people a beacon that illuminates our path toward a future worthy of our sacrifices. Let us stand united against advocates of secession, and together, let us build a free, just, and unified Syria.
