In the context of the national transformation Syria is witnessing after turning the page on tyranny, and with the launch of the second phase of the “Agricultural Resilience” project, in collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Syrian state institutions, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Syrian Future Movement issues this statement to affirm its support for the national development process and place this project within its proper political and institutional framework.
The Syrian Future Movement considers agriculture a pillar of national sovereignty and a central tool for consolidating social and economic stability, especially in areas that have suffered from marginalization and displacement.
This project comes at a crucial time, restoring dignity to rural communities and enhancing their ability to participate in building the new Syria.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms its full support for the process of building state institutions based on efficiency, accountability, and transparency. We see this project as an opportunity to activate the role of national agricultural institutions and develop their research and administrative structures, in line with Syrians’ aspirations for a modern, civil state with a decentralized, cooperative administration and a fair distribution of resources.
The Syrian Future Movement demands that this project be implemented in accordance with the highest standards of good governance, by:
- Involving local communities in planning and implementation, especially women and returning farmers.
- Ensuring transparency in the selection of beneficiaries and the distribution of resources.
- Linking the project to a comprehensive national vision for sustainable development, rather than implementing it as an isolated relief program.
The Syrian Future Movement appreciates the role of the FAO and donors and emphasizes that international cooperation in the post-conflict phase must support national decision-making and take into account Syrians’ priorities for reconstruction, social justice, and balanced development.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that building a new Syria begins with the land, with the people, and with the institutions that protect their dignity and serve their interests. True resilience is not measured by a society’s ability to endure, but rather by its ability to rise and participate in shaping its future.
