6 messages on World Architecture Day

Every year on July 1, the world celebrates World Architecture Day as an international occasion to highlight the role of architecture in shaping human life, shaping cities, and building sustainable societies and urban justice.
In this context, Syrian Future Movement releases its integrated architectural vision, which connects people, identity, place, and the future.

  1. Architecture is not a stone, it’s a civilization

The movement emphasizes that architecture is not just a building art, but a cultural and civilizational expression that reflects people’s identity, their vision for their future, and their awareness of issues of beauty, justice, and place.

  1. From rubble to hope: Architecture at the heart of steadfastness

The movement emphasizes that architecture in post-war Syria acquires a profound dimension that goes beyond its technical function, becoming a means to formulate a new homeland, capable of responding to social, political, and geographical transformations, and facing the crises of displacement, urban collapse, and environmental challenges.

  1. Reconstruction doesn’t just mean clearing rubble

The movement believes that rebuilding Syria should not be limited to repairing what has been destroyed, but should establish a new approach that takes into account social and environmental justice, and ensures the participation of local communities in drawing urban maps, in a way that enhances belonging and respects cultural specificity.

  1. Sustainability and transparency are key concepts in any urban project

Syrian Future Movement calls for the adoption of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and transparency in project selection and implementation as indispensable foundations for any architectural approach that plans to build a balanced future.

  1. The Syrian engineer is the pillar of national reconstruction

The movement calls for empowering Syrian engineers inside and outside the country and giving them the leading role in redesigning Syrian cities and villages, reflecting their civilizational heritage, serving the needs of their people, and rebuilding trust between society and the built environment.

  1. A national vision for human-respectful urbanism

On this International Day, Syrian Future Movement renews its commitment to an urban vision based on respecting human dignity, maximizing the role of knowledge, and building bridges of development from the rubble towards an inclusive tomorrow.
