The first Evacuation Day after the fall of the Assad regime

The Syrian Future Movement celebrates, along with all Syrians, the first Evacuation Day in the phase following the fall of the authoritarian regime that hindered our nation’s progress for decades. On this great day, April 17th, Syria commemorates Evacuation Day—an occasion that embodies our people’s will to liberate themselves from French colonialism and to build our independent state on the foundations of justice, dignity, and national sovereignty.

Today, as we celebrate, we find ourselves facing a historic opportunity to rebuild Syria according to a comprehensive national vision that reflects our people’s aspirations for freedom, justice, and sustainable development.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that Evacuation Day is not just a national memory, but a message of hope and determination that affirms the Syrian people’s ability to overcome challenges and hardships, no matter how great. In this context, the occasion represents an opportunity to renew our commitment to building a strong and independent national state where rights are respected and institutions are built on the foundations of justice, democracy, and the rule of law.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on all Syrians—of all backgrounds and affiliations—to unite in the effort to build a just national state that guarantees equal rights and duties for all its citizens, a state in which human dignity is the cornerstone, and where the wounds of the past are healed through national reconciliation and transitional justice that delivers fairness to victims and ensures that past mistakes are never repeated.

The Syrian Future Movement urges that we learn from the negative experiences of the past, particularly during the Ba’ath era and the Assad family’s grip on Syria, to build a better future. Our nation has suffered bitterly under regimes that failed to fulfill the people’s aspirations. The way forward lies in strengthening national unity, empowering youth, supporting women, and reconstructing what wars and corruption have destroyed—this is the path to achieving the Syria we all dream of.

On this historic day, the Syrian Future Movement addresses every Syrian man and woman: Evacuation Day is the result of a long struggle and great sacrifices. Today, we must be ready to embody that same spirit of sacrifice and hard work for the future of our homeland. Let us stand together, united against all challenges, to build a new Syria that becomes a symbol of freedom, dignity, and justice.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms its full readiness to contribute all its energy and capabilities in this historic phase and renews its call for everyone to work together to realize the dream of a future Syria. Evacuation Day is a moment for reflection and action—it is a call for us all to elevate our dreams to match the level of sacrifice made by our forefathers.

And may Syria always remain free and proud on this great Evacuation Day.
