The European Union’s Statements on Easing Sanctions on Syria

The Syrian Future Movement has closely followed the statements made by the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs regarding the discussion on easing sanctions imposed on Syria. While we appreciate international efforts aimed at supporting Syria’s reconstruction and alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people, we emphasize the importance of ensuring that any such steps are aligned with tangible progress in the political process and adherence to international human rights standards.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that Syria’s reconstruction must be part of a comprehensive vision to achieve peace and stability, and that any easing of sanctions must correspond with progress in the political solution track, in accordance with legitimate international resolutions.

We welcome the statements made by the EU’s foreign policy chief on discussing the easing of sanctions on Syria, and we view this approach as a positive step toward strengthening international cooperation to support Syria’s stability and reconstruction.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the Syrian leadership has shown a clear commitment to consolidating state institutions and constructively addressing both internal and external issues, and we stress the importance of continuing these efforts to fulfill the Syrian people’s aspirations for security, stability, and development.

We call on the European Union to continue constructive dialogue with the new Syrian government, in a manner that ensures a balance between legitimate international demands and support for national efforts to uphold the rule of law and achieve sustainable development.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that it is in the European Union’s interest to support Syria in achieving political stability and genuine economic revival, and that the EU has significant capacity to persuade regional and global powers to cease their hostility toward the new Syrian leadership or their refusal to recognize it as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
