From the memory of the Syrian revolution: 17/08/2011

On this day in 2011: The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights’ fact-finding mission issued a report on the situation in Syria, confirming that at least 1,900 people had been killed by mid-July 2011. The report documented what it called a “pattern of human rights violations constituting widespread, systematic attacks against the civilian population, which may amount to crimes against humanity.” The report also included a “confidential” list of 50 individuals within the Syrian regime at various levels who could potentially face trial at the International Criminal Court.
