World Fair Play Day

On the occasion of the “World Fair Play Day,” established by the international community as a platform to promote integrity, inclusivity, and adherence to shared charters, on May 19, 2025, the first global celebration of this day, an occasion aimed at promoting the practice of sports in the spirit of friendship, solidarity, tolerance, inclusivity, and the rejection of discrimination, World Fair Play Day will serve as a powerful platform to enhance participation in sports and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Fair play also fosters mutual respect among athletes, teaches us to appreciate and respect others, and contributes to achieving equality, bridging cultural gaps, and empowering youth by highlighting the role of sports in bringing about social change and building stronger, more cohesive societies.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that adopting the principles of “fair play” in political action is an essential step towards ending the era of tyranny and transitioning Syria towards a state of law where rules and constitutions are respected, free from political treachery and the violation of sovereign rights.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that transitional justice, the rejection of impunity, and holding perpetrators accountable are the true essence of implementing the concept of integrity at the national level and ensuring that the tragedies of the past are not repeated.

We emphasize the necessity of aligning local laws and legislation with international conventions to rebuild bridges of trust with the international community and guarantee full recognition and genuine engagement with the civilized world.

The Syrian Future Movement views with grave concern the recent humanitarian indicators, as reports from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirm that more than 16.7 million Syrians are in dire need of humanitarian assistance—the highest number since the beginning of the revolution. This necessitates a genuine international and national commitment to end this suffering.

The Syrian Future Movement draws attention to the reports of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) regarding the ongoing displacement and refugee crisis affecting millions. We consider the lack of infrastructure and the continued violations to be a blatant breach of the rules of fair play and the mechanisms of honest competition to provide a dignified and safe life for Syrian citizens.

The Syrian Future Movement views with regret the health and education reports issued by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, which confirm the decline in the efficiency of the health sector and the deprivation of millions of children from education. We believe that securing the right to health, education, and equal opportunities is the first step in building a civilized future for Syria.

The Syrian Future Movement sees youth and athletes as the true driving force for change. We aspire to instill the values of acceptance of others, the peaceful transfer of power, and fair competition as an alternative to the culture of exclusion and violence.

The Syrian Future Movement pledges to work diligently, hand in hand with international organizations and Syrian civil society, to transform these civilized principles from international slogans into daily practices on Syrian soil, in order to preserve human dignity and build a stable and prosperous Syria.
