Akitu Festival

The Syrian Future Movement extends its sincerest congratulations to all the sons and daughters of the Syrian people, from all its diverse communities, and salutes the spirit of cultural and civilizational diversity that forms the fabric of our ancient homeland.

The Syrian Future Movement congratulates our Assyrian-Syriac-Chaldean brethren on the occasion of Akitu (Kha-Nisan) – the Assyrian New Year, which falls on April 1, 2026.

The Syrian Future Movement views this ancient festival as a symbol of renewal, hope, and triumph over adversity, and an embodiment of the Assyrian and Babylonian civilizations that contributed to building Syria’s rich history.

We believe that our Assyrian people’s celebration of this occasion reflects the depth of their belonging to Syrian soil and their determination to preserve their cultural identity within the unifying national framework.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the Syria of the future will be a homeland for all, where every community enjoys its full right to express its culture, language, and heritage, within a civil and democratic state that protects diversity and strengthens national unity.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that religious and ethnic diversity in Syria is not a source of weakness, but rather a source of strength and civilization, and that the future of Syria is open to all its sons and daughters without discrimination or exclusion.

The Syrian Future Movement calls upon all Syrian communities to promote a culture of moderation and unity, and to reject a culture of division and separation, as the Syrian Future Movement has always emphasized. We also believe that building a new Syria requires genuine participation from everyone in the political, economic, and social reconstruction process, leading to a comprehensive national consensus that guarantees the rights of all and protects our rich diversity.

The Syrian Future Movement looks to the future with confidence and believes that the Syria of tomorrow—a Syria of freedom, dignity, and justice—will be a model of peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity, where every Syrian citizen—Assyrian or Arab, Christian or Muslim, Jewish or from any other community—will find their rightful place in building the nation.
