Civil Defense responds to 85 fires and 55 traffic accidents in Syria in one week

The Syrian Future Movement commends the heroic efforts and rapid response of the Syrian Civil Defense, which, in just one week (from March 23 to 30, 2026), responded to 85 fires and 55 other incidents across various Syrian governorates.

We affirm that this high level of performance reflects the professionalism and readiness of the rescue and ambulance teams, despite the significant logistical and material challenges they face.

The Syrian Future Movement acknowledges the noble national role played by the men and women of the Syrian Civil Defense, who continue to provide their humanitarian services to all Syrians without discrimination, amidst the difficult circumstances of this transitional phase. Their daily response to fires, accidents, and disasters represents the first line of defense for the lives of citizens and the safety of their property, and embodies the values of sacrifice and national belonging.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the Civil Defense has become one of the most important national pillars in building trust between citizens and the new institutions. In a transitional phase marked by security, environmental, and service challenges, the role of the Civil Defense stands out as a professional humanitarian institution working to save lives and alleviate the suffering of citizens. This aligns with the widespread sentiments expressed by activists on social media, as we have observed, who consistently convey their appreciation and respect for the efforts of these teams.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that supporting the Civil Defense and strengthening its capabilities is a strategic investment in the security and safety of society, not merely an operational expenditure. The continuation of these efforts, despite limited resources, deserves full national recognition and sustained institutional support.

The Syrian Future Movement recommends the following:

  • Allocating regular and sufficient financial and logistical support to the Civil Defense to enhance its operational capabilities, develop its equipment, and train its personnel.
  • Integrating the Civil Defense into the National Strategy for Disaster and Emergency Management, while developing effective coordination mechanisms between it and all governmental and local entities.
  • Strengthening the partnership between the Civil Defense, civil society, and youth in awareness programs and community response to accidents and disasters.
  • Providing necessary healthcare and psychological support to Civil Defense personnel in recognition of their daily efforts and sacrifices.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the Syrian Civil Defense represents a commendable model of a professional national institution, one that the new state institutions should aspire to. The Syrian Future Movement will remain a strong supporter of every effort that contributes to strengthening its capabilities, protecting the lives of Syrians, and building a safer and more stable future.
