World Day of Social Justice

The Syrian Future Movement salutes the heroic Syrian people, both at home and abroad, and joins them in celebrating the World Day of Social Justice on February 20th each year. This day, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution A/RES/62/10 of November 26, 2007, and officially observed since 2009, represents a renewed global call to promote social justice as the foundation for peace and sustainable development.

In 2026, the celebration will be held under the theme “Renewed Commitment to Social Development and Social Justice,” following the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha and the Doha Political Declaration, which reaffirms the pillars of social development: eradicating poverty, achieving full, productive, and decent employment for all, and promoting social inclusion.

The Syrian Future Movement sees these values as an extension of Syria’s rich heritage based on mutual support, solidarity, and equal dignity, where our cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity is woven into a single national fabric. Social justice is an inherent demand of our people, who rose up for dignity, freedom, and justice.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for the consolidation of these values in post-tyranny and post-war Syria through:

  • Establishing a democratic, civil state that guarantees a fair distribution of wealth and opportunities and protects the marginalized and affected.
  • Economic reconstruction focused on justice, generating decent job opportunities for youth, women, and displaced persons, and building a strong social safety net.
  • Strengthening national unity by integrating all components of the population into the development process, transforming diversity into a source of strength and progress.
  • Adopting comprehensive policies that combine economic development with social justice, drawing inspiration from our traditional social solidarity and benefiting from the best global practices.

The Syrian Future Movement calls upon the Syrian people, the international community, and UN organizations to support this vision through a comprehensive national dialogue, awareness campaigns, and joint practical initiatives to achieve genuine social justice.

The Syrian Future Movement reaffirms its commitment to building a free, unified, and prosperous Syria, where justice and dignity prevail for all its citizens, and which guarantees a better future for generations to come. We believe that achieving social justice is the path to lasting peace, true stability, and a final victory for our people’s noble revolution.
