The Syrian Future Movement extends its sincerest congratulations and best wishes to the brotherly Libyan people on the occasion of their celebration of February 17th, a day that symbolizes the people’s determination to reject injustice and uphold human dignity.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that the deepest common element between our Syrian revolution and the revolution of our brothers in Libya is the popular revolutionary spirit that rejected long-standing humiliation and tyranny, and rose up demanding human dignity, freedom, and social justice, within the wave of the Arab Spring, which proved that the will of the people is capable of challenging oppressive regimes, no matter how long they last or how severe their repression.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that both revolutions began as peaceful demonstrations demanding reforms, then transformed—due to brutal repression—into a comprehensive struggle against dictatorship, with immense sacrifices made by the people of both nations for a free, civil state that respects human rights and guarantees pluralism and the peaceful transfer of power.
The Syrian Future Movement sees the Libyan people’s struggle as an extension of our shared struggle, and living proof that Arab peoples have limits to their patience, and that tyranny—however long it lasts—will inevitably breed revolution.
The Syrian Future Movement understands the most difficult shared lesson: that victory over the dictator is not enough. The real challenge lies in the post-revolutionary period, in preventing the return of tyranny in any form (whether from remnants of the old regime or from new forces that sow discord or exploit the power vacuum), and in building a unified, strong state based on institutions, justice, and national unity.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on our Libyan brothers to make this day an occasion to strengthen genuine national unity, bringing together all Libyans—regardless of their affiliations or regions—towards a single goal: building a single, free, and independent Libya, far removed from fragmentation and foreign interference that hinders progress and threatens sovereignty. We also support the Libyan national efforts that seek to make the anniversary of February 17th a day of unity and cohesion, to rebuild trust among the people of the nation, and to place Libya’s interest above all partisan or regional considerations.
The Syrian Future Movement congratulates the Libyan people on this day and shares in their joy and hope that the goals of the two glorious revolutions will be achieved: a free, just, stable, and prosperous civil state that protects the dignity of its citizens and opens up future horizons for its generations.
Long live the free and dignified Libyan people! Long live a united and strong Libya! And long live the Arab revolutions against injustice, victorious in building a better future!
