The Syrian Future Movement is following with strong condemnation and grave concern the ongoing violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Syrian territory, the latest of which was the incursion that took place at midnight on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in the village of Saida al-Hanout in the southern Quneitra countryside.
An Israeli military force, supported by ten armored vehicles, raided a citizen’s home, ransacked its contents, and then arrested a young man from the village. They also severely beat his 76-year-old father when he tried to defend his son.
Within the following 24 hours, the arrests continued with the detention of four more young men from the villages of Ghadeer al-Bustan and Jabata al-Khashab. These incursions are part of a near-daily pattern of targeting civilians and peaceful residents in the Quneitra and Daraa countrysides, disrupting their daily lives and damaging their agricultural and natural resources.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that these attacks are not isolated incidents, but rather constitute a systematic pattern that has persisted for months. This pattern includes repeated ground incursions, the establishment of temporary checkpoints, arbitrary arrests, and the firing of live ammunition and artillery shells, resulting in civilian casualties and hindering any efforts to achieve stability in southern Syria.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that this blatant violation comes despite the understandings reached in Paris on January 5 and 6, 2016, through direct US mediation. These understandings resulted in the establishment of a joint liaison mechanism (a dedicated liaison cell) for exchanging intelligence, de-escalating military tensions, freezing Israeli military activities against Syria, and preventing misunderstandings, all under US supervision.
We also affirm that this behavior constitutes a clear violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and binding international resolutions, including:
- Security Council Resolution 242 (1967), which calls for Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied territories.
- Resolution 338 (1973), which affirms the ceasefire.
- Resolution 497 (1981), which condemns the annexation of the Syrian Golan and deems it null and void.
The Syrian Future Movement, committed to the principles of full national sovereignty and the human dignity of every Syrian citizen, condemns in the strongest terms these repeated Israeli violations. It considers them a direct threat to the nascent peace efforts and stability during this sensitive transitional phase, and a flagrant violation of the fundamental rights of the Syrian people to live in safety and dignity on their land. The continued occupation of the Syrian Golan and the ground incursions impede the building of a future Syria as a just, democratic, and civil state, based on respect for international law and peaceful coexistence with its neighbors.
The Syrian Future Movement calls upon the international community, particularly the United States as the primary mediator in the Paris Agreement, the United Nations, and Arab and Islamic states, to:
- Immediately and unequivocally condemn these violations.
- Take decisive measures to halt the Israeli incursions and attacks.
- Impose sanctions on those responsible.
Ensuring the effective and immediate implementation of security agreements and international resolutions. The Syrian Future Movement calls upon the Syrian people to strengthen national unity and resilience in the face of these challenges, affirming that the path to complete liberation and dignity lies in adherence to international law and organized collective action to build a free and prosperous homeland that regains its sovereignty over all its territory.
