51 detainees released in Hasakah Governorate

The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the step announced by Hasakah Governor Noureddine Ahmed on February 21, 2026, to release 51 detainees held in the region’s prisons, as part of the “Forgiveness and Reconstruction” initiative, with the support and participation of Kurdish and Arab tribal leaders and elders.

The Syrian Future Movement views this step as a positive sign towards strengthening civil peace and social integration, especially as it coincided with the presidential amnesty. During the release, the governor emphasized that the current phase is not based on detention or exclusion, but rather on reintegrating individuals into the fabric of society, considering those released an integral part of the nation’s people.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that such measures, however limited in number, contribute to building trust among the various components of the Syrian people and reflect a move towards a phase of tolerance and reconstruction that requires everyone’s cooperation, as society is a shared responsibility for both officials and citizens.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for expanding such initiatives to include larger groups of detainees and prisoners in various Syrian regions, while ensuring full transparency in the criteria for release and disclosing the names and nature of the cases, in order to enhance the credibility of the transitional process and achieve justice.

The Syrian Future Movement views this step as part of a broader path toward a unified and stable state based on equal citizenship, transcending past divisions and opening avenues for genuine cooperation among all citizens in building a shared future founded on dignity, justice, and stability.

The Syrian Future Movement expresses its hope that such efforts will continue and be followed by more comprehensive measures regarding the issue of detainees and missing persons, so that positive integration and national reconciliation become a tangible reality that includes everyone without exception.
