“Vision 3” Free Medical Campaign

The Syrian Future Movement, as a political entity with a strategic vision committed to promoting comprehensive healthcare as a fundamental right for every Syrian citizen and supporting humanitarian initiatives that strengthen national unity and social justice, warmly welcomes and supports the free medical campaign “Vision 3” launched by the Syrian Ministry of Health in cooperation with international organizations on January 18, 2026.

The Syrian Future Movement considers this campaign a positive turning point in promoting preventive and curative healthcare, drawing inspiration from successful international experiences such as the World Health Organization’s “Vision 2020” campaign in India, which succeeded in reducing cataract blindness by more than 50% through free surgical programs and international partnerships, thus contributing to improving the quality of life for millions of people; as well as the anti-blindness campaigns in Ethiopia in cooperation with organizations such as Orbis, which focused on local training and sustainability to perform thousands of surgeries, transforming a health crisis into a model for community development.

The Syrian Future Movement highlights the intricate details of this campaign as evidence of its profound humanitarian and strategic significance. It includes providing free cataract surgeries at Hama National Hospital, performed by specialized Syrian and international doctors, adhering to the highest safety and quality standards and utilizing state-of-the-art medical equipment. The campaign also involves examining approximately 4,000 patients in Hama Governorate, distributing over 1,000 pairs of reading glasses, and performing 400 surgeries to restore sight, prioritizing emergency cases based on thorough medical assessments. The campaign is being extended to other Syrian governorates in collaboration with the Independent Doctors Association (IDA), the International Eye Foundation, and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, as part of the ongoing restoration of vital hospital departments following liberation, thereby enhancing healthcare services.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that this campaign embodies a profound health philosophy, reflecting an awareness of the challenges posed by chronic diseases such as cataracts, which affect millions of people globally according to World Health Organization reports. It contributes to improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable groups, drawing on the model of the “Light for the World” campaigns in Africa. These campaigns have led to the integration of healthcare into national policies to ensure sustainability, potentially transforming Syria’s diversity from a source of health challenges into an opportunity for social solidarity after years of conflict that have impacted health systems.

The Syrian Future Movement calls upon all relevant parties – the Syrian Ministry of Health, partner international organizations, and the international community – to fully and continuously implement this campaign. This includes establishing joint monitoring committees to oversee surgical procedures and distribution, drawing inspiration from the successful coordination committees in World Health Organization campaigns to ensure transparency and foster trust among local communities.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for guarantees to ensure the sustainability and comprehensiveness of these campaigns across all of Syria. This includes integrating them into permanent national health policies, expanding them to all governorates, focusing on local training for medical personnel to reduce reliance on foreign aid, establishing preventative programs for the early detection of eye diseases, and allocating government budgets to support such initiatives. This will prevent any decline in healthcare and build a resilient health system capable of meeting future challenges.

The Syrian Future Movement declares its commitment to supporting the elimination of all forms of health inequality in Syria. This will be achieved by strengthening international and local partnerships to expand healthcare and facilitate access to medical services for all Syrian communities—Arabs, Kurds, Alawites, Christians, and others—with a focus on rebuilding health infrastructure. The Movement draws inspiration from Ethiopia’s experience in building sustainable health networks after conflicts.

The Syrian Future Movement warns against any external obstacles that might hinder such humanitarian initiatives and calls for support in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health, to achieve a comprehensive health system that benefits everyone.

The Syrian Future Movement firmly believes that health is the foundation of social stability, and expresses its deep optimism that this campaign will be the gateway to a new era of integrated healthcare in Syria, based on the lessons of international history that prove that investment in health is the key to sustainable development.
