The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest the ongoing developments in the Syrian-Israeli negotiations, which are resuming their round on January 5, 2026, in Paris under American auspices, as the parties seek to reach a security agreement aimed at de-escalating tensions on the shared border.
In this delicate context, which comes after years of occupation and regional tensions, the Syrian Future Movement affirms its firm national stance, which is based on the principles of the Syrian revolution, building the new Syrian state, and ensuring the success of the transitional phase. It is committed to strengthening national sovereignty and restoring the legitimate rights of the Syrian people in accordance with international law.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the Syrian Golan Heights, occupied since 1967, represent a symbol of national steadfastness, and any agreement must be based on the explicit recognition that it is sovereign Syrian territory, based on UN Security Council Resolutions 242 (1967) and 338 (1973), which demand Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied territories, and Resolution 497 (1981), which rejects Israel’s annexation of the Golan and considers it null and void.
The Syrian Future Movement categorically rejects any attempts to perpetuate the occupation or impose security conditions that exceed the limits of Syrian sovereignty, such as demands for humanitarian corridors or interference in internal affairs, as was the case with the Syrian side’s rejection of an Israeli proposal to open an aid corridor to Suwayda. The Syrian Future Movement views these negotiations as an opportunity to achieve a sustainable solution that enhances regional stability, provided that it is based on the principle of “land for peace,” guaranteeing a complete Israeli withdrawal to the pre-December 8, 2024 lines, and the reactivation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement under United Nations supervision.
We believe this solution is a step towards building the future Syria as a free, unified, and independent state, capable of reconstruction and fostering regional cooperation, while preserving the rights of future generations to their land and resources.
We affirm that our future vision transcends current conflicts, moving towards a regional partnership built on mutual respect and international law, where Syria is an active partner in comprehensive peace, free from external interference or compromises on its sovereignty.
The Syrian Future Movement calls upon the Syrian transitional government and the negotiating delegation to firmly adhere to these principles and not to relinquish any part of Syrian rights under any pressure or inducements. We also believe that the negotiations must be transparent and based on broad international support, including the role of the United Nations and Arab states, to ensure the fair and sustainable implementation of any agreement. We emphasize that any retreat from these rights will negatively affect the unity and future of the Syrian people and open the door to further tensions.
The Syrian Future Movement affirms its commitment to joint national action to achieve this vision and calls upon all Syrian forces to unite behind the supreme national interest, for the sake of a free, unified, and prosperous Syria.
