The Syrian Future Movement is following with great interest and deep concern the rapidly evolving political and security developments in Syria, particularly those related to the implementation of the agreement to integrate the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian national military and security institutions, as agreed upon in the March 10, 2025 agreement sponsored by the Syrian state and its regional partners.
In this context, we would like to note the position of the main Turkish opposition parties, most notably the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and the Peoples’ Democracy and Equality Party (DEVA), which categorically rejected any suggestion of resorting to military options to pressure for the agreement’s implementation, as reported in the media on January 3, 2026. These parties prefer instead a structured and transparent diplomatic roadmap that guarantees internal stability in Turkey and regional stability in the region as a whole.
The Syrian Future Movement declares its full and unequivocal support for this approach, which rejects military escalation, and affirms its explicit and principled rejection of any threats of war or the use of force as a tool for resolving political or security disputes, whether internal or regional in nature. The Syrian people have paid a very heavy price over the long years of conflict. The war has led to widespread destruction of infrastructure, the displacement of millions of citizens, the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives, and the collapse of the social fabric in many areas. Therefore, any return to the language of weapons or the threat of them would constitute a serious setback, hindering the national recovery process and obstructing the building of the unified, pluralistic, and civil state that all Syrians aspire to. It would also deepen divisions and threaten the unity of the land and the people, which we consider a red line that cannot be crossed.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that prioritizing diplomacy and comprehensive national dialogue is the only strategic option capable of ensuring the sustainable and mutually acceptable implementation of agreements. This dialogue must be based on the principles of mutual respect, recognition of the legitimate national rights of all Syrian components, and guaranteeing their effective and equal participation in political and security decision-making. It must also be accompanied by serious efforts to rebuild trust among the various actors and address security challenges through transparent national mechanisms subject to civilian oversight, free from any external interference that could further complicate the situation.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that peaceful solutions based on national consensus are the only guarantee for restoring full Syrian sovereignty over all national territory, achieving the desired stability that will pave the way for reconstruction, the dignified return of displaced persons, and the launch of a genuine political transition leading to a free and unified Syria.
The Syrian Future Movement reaffirms its unwavering commitment to these principles and emphasizes that the path of peace is the only path to a better future for our children. We call upon all relevant Syrian, regional, and international parties to fully commit to peaceful means and to prioritize constructive dialogue over threats, for the good of Syria and its people, who have suffered for so long and deserve, after all these difficult years, to live in safety and dignity.
