The application period continues until January 31, 2026. It is important to refer to the bank’s official website for detailed eligibility requirements, as stated in official sources.
The Syrian Future Movement believes this announcement comes at a time that requires a profound national perspective. These scholarships reflect an international effort to support member states of the Islamic Development Bank, which launched its program in 1983 to enhance scientific and technological capabilities and expanded it in 1992 to include outstanding individuals in applied sciences. We believe that in Syria, where the educational infrastructure has deteriorated due to the conflict, this opportunity represents a gateway to rebuilding human capital, our most precious asset as a nation striving to rise from the ashes. We also see it as an extension of our previous initiatives, such as those outlined in the “Hungarian Scholarships for Syrian Students” statement issued by the Scientific Office on December 31, 2015. In that statement, we emphasized the importance of international educational opportunities as a national tool for Syria’s reconstruction, stressing the need to link them to a future vision that ensures graduates return to serve their country and foster local innovation.
From our national perspective, rooted in the principles of the Syrian revolution and committed to achieving civil peace and sustainable development, the Syrian Future Movement affirms that these scholarships should be part of a comprehensive national strategy for higher education reform. The challenges facing Syria today, such as the shortage of academic staff and limited funding, necessitate an approach that goes beyond individual grants to building sustainable partnerships with international institutions, such as the Islamic Development Bank, which employs an interest-free financing model that aligns with our cultural and religious values.
We also believe that investment in advanced technology is a cornerstone for achieving economic independence and national sovereignty, as it can contribute to local solutions for energy, agriculture, and healthcare issues, thus enhancing Syria’s standing in the regional and international arenas.
The Syrian Future Movement calls for expanding the scope of these scholarships to include broader educational levels, including bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and other vital disciplines such as economics and management, to address the high unemployment rates among Syrian youth. We also emphasize the importance of ensuring transparency in the selection and allocation process, free from any political interference or corruption, to strengthen trust in national institutions.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on all Syrians, both inside and outside the country, to seize this opportunity as a step towards a brighter future, where Syria is strong, free, and advanced, far removed from dependencies and conflicts.
