Environmental campaign to plant trees in 12 key locations

The Syrian Future Movement affirms its comprehensive national vision, based on the principles of national sovereignty, social justice, and sustainable development, with a focus on rebuilding Syria as a modern state that relies on civic and cultural initiatives to promote environmental and social stability.

The Syrian Future Movement warmly welcomes the environmental campaign launched by the Homs Governorate, under the auspices of the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, on January 6, 2026. This campaign aims to plant trees in 12 key locations and enhance green spaces, representing a significant step towards environmental revitalization and improving the city’s environmental conditions. Locations include the Homs Citadel roundabout, Bab al-Dreib Park, and the al-Nasirah Heights, among others, with a focus on expanding vegetation cover and promoting community participation.

The Syrian Future Movement supports this initiative, which began on Tuesday and continues until Sunday, with daily activities according to a set schedule. The Movement considers it a model of collaborative efforts that demonstrates a shared responsibility for environmental preservation and contributes to improving the aesthetic and health landscape of Syrian cities, as seen in similar efforts in Aleppo and Damascus, where green spaces were rehabilitated and thousands of trees were planted.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for expanding this campaign to encompass all of Syria, from north to south, including the central and eastern regions, as part of a comprehensive national strategy for sustainable environmental development. This strategy should ensure the rehabilitation of forests damaged by years of war and promote environmental awareness among all segments of society.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the importance of integrating civic and cultural values into such initiatives, such as strengthening community participation by engaging youth, women, and NGOs, and adopting modern agricultural and irrigation technologies to address the challenges of climate change. This will contribute to building resilient and sustainable communities.

The Syrian Future Movement sees this campaign as an opportunity to strengthen national unity by focusing on shared cultural values, such as preserving natural heritage as an essential part of Syrian identity, and advocating for the establishment of environmental education programs in schools and universities to cultivate a generation that understands the importance of ecological balance.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on the transitional government and relevant authorities to allocate sustainable budgets for these projects, with international cooperation if necessary, to transform Syria into a regional model for green development, moving beyond the legacy of destruction left by the previous regime.

The Syrian Future Movement extends a hand of cooperation to all Syrians to participate in building a green and prosperous homeland, affirming its firm commitment to the principles of modern civil civilization, sustainable development, and national unity, towards a future of peace and prosperity for all of Syria.
