The Syrian Future Movement affirms its unwavering commitment to the principle that health is a fundamental human right, inviolable and inviolable under any circumstances. On this occasion, it reiterates its call for the establishment of a comprehensive, equitable, and sustainable national health system that guarantees every Syrian citizen the right to access integrated, safe, and affordable healthcare services without discrimination or exclusion.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that commemorating Universal Health Coverage Day presents an opportunity to assess the state of the health sector in Syria, which has suffered for decades from marginalization, corruption, and politicization. During the years of the blessed revolution, it was subjected to systematic destruction, leading to the collapse of infrastructure, the displacement of medical personnel, and the deprivation of millions of Syrians of their most basic health rights.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that rebuilding the health system in the new Syria must be based on a comprehensive national vision grounded in the following principles:
- Health equity: Ensuring the equitable distribution of resources and services among all regions and segments of society, including marginalized and disadvantaged areas.
- Sustainable financing: Adopting transparent financing policies that guarantee the continuity of health services without imposing undue financial burdens on citizens.
- Strengthening primary healthcare: as the cornerstone of any effective health system, capable of prevention, early detection, and community-based response.
- Ensuring the independence of health institutions and their separation from political influence, and guaranteeing their efficient and professional management.
- Supporting medical personnel through training, protection, improved working conditions, and ensuring their return to contribute to the reconstruction of the health sector.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that universal health coverage is a national and ethical imperative, forming a fundamental pillar for achieving social stability, strengthening trust between citizens and the state, and enshrining the concept of equal citizenship.
The Syrian Future Movement calls for launching a national health dialogue, including representatives from the medical sector, civil society, government agencies, and international supporting bodies, with the aim of developing a clear roadmap for rebuilding the health system according to the standards of justice, transparency, and efficiency.
The Syrian Future Movement reaffirms its commitment to working towards a new Syria, where health is a right, not a privilege, where human beings are at the heart of public policies, and where institutions are built on the foundations of integrity and justice, capable of protecting the dignity of citizens and guaranteeing their health and social security.
