The Syrian Revolution Victory Celebration and a speech by the Popular Base Office, Khuloud Sharaf

A speech from the Popular Base Office/Women’s Section of the Syrian Future Movement at the central celebration of the first anniversary of the victory of the Syrian Revolution and the fall of the Assad regime.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Allow me, from my position in the Popular Base Office, Free Women’s Section, to address my words to the inspiring and creative women who broke down barriers with their ideas and innovations, crafting handicrafts from the simplest of things!

Work that consumed their very light and drained their strength, all to preserve their dignity.

They were the unsung heroes of our people’s steadfastness during the years of the revolution, and they were the support for their men and sons when all other avenues were closed.

These patient women are partners in victory and a source of pride.

It is our responsibility in the Syrian Future Movement to restore their dignity and open the doors for them to participate in shaping the future. They are rights holders, partners in decision-making, and leaders of society.

Today, we declare unequivocally that for our nation to succeed, achieve stability, and build a just state, it must elevate the status of women to their rightful place and grant women from the grassroots level of society a prominent role in development, the economy, administration, and political life.

We in the Syrian Future Movement pledge to work diligently to be one family, sharing our concerns and offering productive programs that open up opportunities worthy of your sacrifices.

Peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.
