International Day Against Unilateral Coercive Measures

The Syrian Future Movement commemorates the International Day Against Unilateral Coercive Measures, which the United Nations has declared an annual observance on December 4th. On this occasion, the Movement affirms that unilateral sanctions pose a direct threat to Syria and its people, particularly during this delicate transitional phase for the country and its society.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that these coercive measures, especially the Caesar Act and its continued existence even after the fall of the Assad regime, negatively impact civilians, hinder reconstruction and economic development, and limit the ability of institutions to provide essential services, including support for impoverished families and empowering youth through employment opportunities and productive projects.

In this context, the Syrian Future Movement emphasizes its commitment to international justice and national sovereignty. Syria, as an independent state, deserves a just economic and humanitarian environment that guarantees the rights of its citizens and mitigates the effects of these unjust sanctions. We also stress the necessity of strengthening the local economy, promoting social empowerment, and supporting the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector, thereby reducing external dependency and enhancing social stability.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for integration with transitional policies by using the International Day as an opportunity to promote national and international dialogue, and to support economic and social initiatives that contribute to rebuilding the new Syria on the foundations of justice and human dignity, while taking into account the specificities of the transitional phase and the needs of citizens.
