International Day Against Colonialism

The Syrian Future Movement commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Colonialism in all its forms and manifestations, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, as a global occasion to reaffirm the commitment to the rights of peoples to self-determination, independence, and full sovereignty.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms that the principles of this day align with the inalienable rights of the Syrian people, guaranteed by international conventions, and necessitate the end of all forms of occupation and foreign domination that undermine the sovereignty and stability of the state.

The Syrian Future Movement expresses its condemnation of the continued Israeli military presence in Syria, which transgresses all international legal frameworks and constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic. This presence exploits Syrian airspace to achieve regional strategic objectives that are not in the interest of the Syrian people. Furthermore, in accordance with the United Nations’ commitments to promoting the end of foreign domination, the continuation of this presence is essentially no different from the modern forms of colonialism that the international community seeks to confront.

The Syrian Future Movement reiterates that the right to self-determination and national independence are among the central values enshrined in the International Day for the Elimination of Colonialism, and that lasting peace and the establishment of a stable state cannot be achieved as long as the framework of national sovereignty is restricted by an illegitimate foreign presence. The Syrian Future Movement calls on the international community to translate the principles of this day into practical measures that end occupations and interventions, and support Syria’s path toward political, economic, and social recovery under independent national leadership.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms its full commitment to the principles of national sovereignty, respect for international law, and the necessity of the complete withdrawal of any foreign forces from Syrian territory, in accordance with the will of the Syrian people to determine their future freely and with dignity.
