Tribal reconciliation in the city of Sanamayn in Daraa Governorate

The Syrian Future Movement commends the general tribal reconciliation announced today in the city of Sanamayn, Daraa Governorate, on November 16, 2025, under the auspices of Governor Anwar Taha Hussein, and in the presence of national reconciliation councils, security representatives, and tribal leaders from various governorates.

The Syrian Future Movement views this reconciliation, the result of intensive efforts spanning several months, as a crucial step towards restoring civil peace and strengthening social cohesion in Daraa Governorate, a region that has faced complex security challenges and recurring tensions in recent years.

This achievement underscores the ability of our community members to resolve disputes through dialogue and understanding, and highlights the role of official institutions in supporting local initiatives as part of a comprehensive strategy for rebuilding peace in Syria.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that this reconciliation, with its broad official and social participation, represents a practical model of what can be achieved when governmental institutions collaborate with social and tribal forces in managing local conflicts, moving away from the logic of force and the culture of revenge. This also reflects a genuine desire within the local community to consolidate social security and create an environment conducive to resolving the accumulated problems left by years of conflict.

While the Syrian Future Movement welcomes this step, it emphasizes a number of principles and visions necessary to ensure the sustainability of this reconciliation, including:

  1. Extending the Sanamein experience to other areas that have witnessed similar conflicts, including the formation of permanent national reconciliation committees to oversee the mechanisms for addressing the issues and preventing the recurrence of tensions.
  2. Surrendering illegal weapons and activating status regularization programs in accordance with the rule of law and in a manner that strengthens the state’s authority over all Syrian territory.
  3. Adopting a development approach parallel to the reconciliation, through launching gradual reconstruction projects in the city of Sanamein and the Daraa countryside, encompassing service infrastructure, job opportunities, and economic empowerment for youth.
  4. Promoting a culture of dialogue and tolerance through community and educational programs, thereby reinforcing the values of coexistence and preventing the emergence of new waves of polarization.
  5. Involving civil society and tribal representatives in monitoring the implementation of the reconciliation terms to ensure transparency and enhance trust among all parties.

The Syrian Future Movement sees the reconciliation in Sanamayn today as a new step in a necessary series of efforts aimed at building a safe and unified Syria based on justice and the rule of law. The movement renews its full commitment to supporting local and national initiatives that contribute to restoring stability and strengthening social cohesion, stressing that the future of Syria can only be built through mutual trust and joint work between official institutions and local communities.
