Syrian Airlines elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Air Carriers Organization

The Syrian Future Movement is closely following developments in the Syrian air transport sector and welcomes the announcement issued on November 11, 2025, regarding the election of Mr. Sameh Orabi, Director General of Syrian Airlines, to the Executive Committee of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO), during the 58th AACO General Assembly meetings held in Rabat, Morocco.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that Syrian Airlines’ membership in the second-highest leadership body of the AACO, alongside leading Arab airlines, is a positive step towards repositioning Syria within the Arab system of air transport and services. It also reflects a growing desire to strengthen technical and institutional cooperation among the member states of the League of Arab States.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that this step, despite its limitations, represents an opportunity to rebuild confidence in national institutions and necessitates a comprehensive reform of the civil aviation sector. This reform must include modernizing infrastructure, ensuring safety standards, and providing a transparent operating environment that aligns with international standards.

The Syrian Future Movement also calls for this participation to serve as a gateway to expanding Arab-Syrian dialogue in the economic and service sectors, away from political rivalries, in a way that serves the interests of the Syrian people and strengthens their openness to their Arab neighbors.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the necessity of translating this step into practical policies that ensure the development of the air transport sector in Syria, contribute to improving the quality of services provided to citizens, and facilitate travel and trade and cultural exchange with Arab countries.
