The Syrian Future Movement notes with great satisfaction the assumption by the Syrian Arab Republic, represented by His Excellency the Minister of Information, Dr. Hamza Al-Mustafa, of the presidency of the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers. This took place during the regular session held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, succeeding the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that this assumption constitutes a significant milestone in Syria’s return to its rightful place within the Arab system, and practical evidence of the success of joint national and Arab efforts to end the period of isolation and reintegrate the Syrian state into its regional environment.
Based on its independent national vision, which prioritizes building modern state institutions, the Syrian Future Movement sees in this event the following historic opportunity:
- To affirm that Syria’s return to its Arab seat marks the beginning of a new phase of national responsibility in leading shared Arab issues.
- To provide the Syrian state with the opportunity to lead a constructive Arab dialogue on digital transformation, freedom of information, combating hate speech, and employing artificial intelligence in the service of development and stability.
- Strengthening the presence of Syrian institutions in shaping joint Arab media policies, in a way that serves the supreme national interest and reflects the aspirations of the Syrian people for a professional, responsible, and diverse media.
We in the Syrian Future Movement, while congratulating the Syrian leadership and the Syrian people on this achievement, affirm that Syria’s success in this presidency hinges on continuing the path of internal institutional reform, strengthening the climate of media freedoms, and opening the way for independent national voices to contribute to building a comprehensive national narrative that reflects Syria’s diversity and its future aspirations.
We affirm the Syrian Future Movement’s readiness to offer all its expertise and national competencies to support the Ministry of Information’s efforts during the upcoming term, to ensure that Syria’s presidency serves as a model for the new Arab media based on transparency, professionalism, and national responsibility.
