International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

The Syrian Future Movement affirms its unwavering commitment to the values of justice and human rights, particularly during this transitional phase in Syria following liberation and the beginning of building the new national state institutions. The commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, recognized by the United Nations on November 25th each year, is an opportunity to renew our pledge to half of society that has suffered decades of marginalization and systematic violations.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that confronting violence against women is a fundamental pillar in the project of rebuilding the Syrian state on the values of equal citizenship and the rule of law. In this context, the Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the necessity of aligning national policies with international standards, developing legislation to protect women, and strengthening transitional justice mechanisms to ensure the exposure of violations, the accountability of perpetrators, and the prevention of their recurrence.

The Syrian Future Movement stresses that Syria’s engagement with the international system, especially in the field of women’s rights, constitutes a fundamental entry point for restoring its rightful place in the international community and for building effective development partnerships that contribute to human and institutional reconstruction. The Syrian Future Movement believes that empowering women politically, economically, and socially is a direct investment in Syria’s future, stability, and prosperity.

On this occasion, the Syrian Future Movement calls upon all national forces, official institutions, and civil society organizations to make this day a starting point for practical policies that end violence against women in all its forms and pave the way for a safe and just environment in which women actively participate in shaping the future of a new Syria.
