First anniversary of the battle to deter aggression

Sons of the great Syrian people…
O free people in every street, mountain, and village…

One year ago today, at dawn on November 27, 2024, our final battle for freedom in our country, Syria, began—a battle to deter aggression, defend humanity, and rebuild our nation.

It was a moment when the silence of the preceding years shattered. The feet of fighters from northern Syria and everywhere else sprang forth, carrying with them loyalty to the blood of millions of martyrs, the cries of millions of bereaved mothers, the dreams of millions of children who knew no childhood but under bombardment and siege, and love for their homeland.

Just eleven days, from the north, the capital of steadfastness, to the heart of Damascus, the capital of decision and stability, were enough to topple the most brutal regime of oppression, tyranny, and enslavement in modern history: the tyrannical “Assad regime.”

The Syrian Future Movement believes that today, just one year after the battle to deter aggression, we stand free in our homeland, on our land, raising our heads to the sky that no longer rains down barrels of death.

We declare with one voice: Yes, the era of tyranny has ended forever, and every tyrant and oppressor has fallen.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the battle to deter aggression must be the last war we Syrians wage against injustice, and the first step towards building a proud, dignified, free, and healthy homeland.

To every tear shed in the displacement camps…

To every mother who lost her child…

To every night a prisoner spent in the dungeons of the fallen regime…

To every dream a child drew on the walls of a destroyed school…

All of this was transformed in that auspicious dawn into the fuel of a victory unprecedented in the history of Syria (so preserve it and cherish its memory).

The Syrian Future Movement believes that we are not merely commemorating a battle, but celebrating the birth of a new nation, born from the womb of pain, sorrow, and blood.

Today we celebrate the end of the rule of a family that thought Syria was their personal fiefdom. Let us begin writing a glorious history in letters of light, a history that declares: Syria belongs to all Syrians, without distinction or discrimination. No one is above the law, no rule is inherited, and no one will govern it with iron and fire from this day forward.

We in the Syrian Future Movement, on this momentous anniversary, swear before God first, and then before the blood of the martyrs and the eyes of the children who will inherit this homeland, that we will ensure every drop of blood spilled on its sacred soil will prevent another drop of blood from being shed due to injustice, oppression, or tyranny.

We swear to build the Syria our righteous martyrs dreamed of, not the one desired by the remaining henchmen and remnants of the defunct regime, who are now sneaking around in new clothes.

Yes, we will be the guardians of this victory until our last breath.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for this day to be a national day in the new era of Syria, and for our children to learn how a great people, through sheer will, were able to overthrow the tyrant of Damascus.

A salute to every Syrian who struggled and fought for freedom and the liberation of their country and people.

A salute to every mother who raised her children to love their homeland.

A salute to every child who painted the flag of the revolution on the walls of fear.

A salute to all those who stood guard on the front lines, who retreated and attacked, who planned and executed.

A salute to every Syrian man and woman, both inside and outside the country, whose sole concern today is that Syria remains free, dignified, and united.
