The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the comprehensive reform plan announced by the Daraa Governorate on Monday, November 17, 2025, to develop the education sector. This plan aligns with the urgent need to rebuild this vital sector after years of structural and administrative deterioration.
The plan includes five clearly defined strategic pillars: improving the educational environment, enhancing staff efficiency, strengthening institutional work, promoting quality education and discipline, and developing administrative communication channels. It also establishes an Education Council, chaired by Governor Anwar Taha al-Zoubi, to oversee implementation according to a binding timetable.
The Syrian Future Movement considers this step a positive transformation and a qualitative leap forward for Daraa Governorate. It lays the foundation for a more stable and effective educational environment and can serve as a viable model for other Syrian governorates, especially since it adopts a participatory approach and direct executive oversight, which enhances the chances of success.
Based on its national responsibilities, the Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the following:
The necessity of providing sufficient financial resources for the plan in a sustainable manner, and committing to disbursing funding according to the established schedules without delay, to ensure the actual implementation of what has been announced on the ground.
The importance of enhancing transparency and community oversight by involving parents, teachers, and civil society organizations in monitoring the implementation phases and evaluating performance.
Giving special priority to rural areas in school rehabilitation processes, finding practical solutions for school transportation, and addressing dropout rates through social support programs targeting the most affected families.
Developing educational curricula to keep pace with economic and technological transformations, while strengthening vocational and technical education to create a balanced path with academic education and to meet the needs of the future labor market.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the central government to generalize this reform model at a comprehensive national level by launching a five-year plan to rescue education in Syria. This plan should aim to rebuild infrastructure, raise human capital, and develop educational policies on modern scientific foundations. Reforming education is a strategic investment in the Syrian people and a true guarantee for building a just, modern, and capable state.
