Wadi al-Nasara crime and a salute to the demonstrators in Homs

The Syrian Future Movement is following with deep concern and sorrow the horrific crime that occurred on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in the village of Anaz in Wadi al-Nasara, in the western Homs countryside. This crime claimed the lives of three innocent young men as a result of gunfire by unknown assailants. The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East expressed its strong condemnation of this crime, describing it as “a treacherous hand that extended against them in a heinous crime that shames humanity.” The Patriarchate emphasized that what happened represents a serious violation of civil peace in Syria.

The Syrian Future Movement, while expressing its full solidarity with the families of the victims and the people of Wadi al-Nasara, affirms that this crime not only represents an attack on the lives of individuals, but also poses a direct threat to the Syrian national fabric and a sinful attempt to undermine the civil coexistence that has long distinguished this region and is one of the pillars of the civil Syria we seek.

In this context, the Syrian Future Movement proudly and honorably salutes the people of Homs who demonstrated on the evening of Saturday, October 4, 2025, in a peaceful demonstration expressing their solidarity with their Christian brothers in Wadi al-Nasara. This demonstration affirmed that the Syrian people, with all their components, reject strife and stand united against attempts to undermine civil peace.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms the following:

  1. Absolute condemnation of this heinous crime and a call for a prompt, transparent, and independent investigation that exposes the perpetrators and brings them to justice without delay or politicization.
  2. Rejection of any attempt to exploit the crime for political or sectarian purposes, and affirmation that protecting civil peace is a collective, non-negotiable national responsibility.
  3. Calling on the Syrian government to involve civil society organizations and independent human rights bodies in monitoring investigations and ensuring their integrity and transparency.
  4. Demanding that the United Nations and relevant international organizations intensify their presence in sensitive areas, support local reconciliation efforts, and strengthen community protection mechanisms.
  5. Affirming that civil peace is the cornerstone of any successful political transition, its consolidation requires profound reform of security and judicial institutions, and ensuring justice and accountability.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that this crime should be a wake-up call for all national forces that the next phase cannot be built on ignoring or lenient treatment of those who tamper with the security and unity of Syrians. The movement renews its call to build a new Syria based on justice, citizenship, and coexistence, where there is no place for violence, discrimination, or impunity.
