The Syrian Future Movement followed the announcement made by the Internal Security Command in Latakia Governorate on October 16, 2025, regarding the opening of a dedicated office to receive citizens’ complaints regarding violations or misconduct by members of the security apparatus.
While the Syrian Future Movement affirms that the principles of accountability, transparency, and accountability constitute a fundamental pillar in building new state institutions, it believes that this step, although belated, represents an initial positive sign on the path to reforming the security apparatus and rebuilding trust between citizens and state institutions.
The Syrian Future Movement notes that formal steps alone are insufficient unless accompanied by independent oversight mechanisms that ensure that complaints are handled objectively, that complainants are protected from any repercussions, and that anyone proven to be involved in violations against citizens is held accountable.
The Syrian Future Movement also stresses the need to expand such offices to all governorates and place them under joint judicial and civil supervision, in line with the principles stipulated in the 2025 Constitutional Declaration, which affirmed that state institutions, including security institutions, are subject to oversight and accountability, and that human rights and the rule of law are respected.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that building a new Syria cannot be achieved by changing slogans, but rather by instilling a culture of accountability and transparency, and purging institutions of practices that have undermined the dignity of Syrians for decades.
The Syrian Future Movement renews its commitment to working for a state of law and citizenship, in which human dignity is respected, officials are held accountable according to the law, not according to loyalty or affiliation, and ensuring that the security services are at the service of the people, not above them.
