Syrian-Saudi health cooperation

The Syrian Future Movement is closely following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Syrian Ministry of Health and its counterpart in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 21, 2025. This memorandum aims to enhance cooperation in the health sector, exchange expertise, and develop medical services in Syria. The movement considers this step a natural extension of the Syrian-Saudi partnership, which has been rapidly taking shape over the past few months.

In previous statements, the Syrian Future Movement has expressed its full support for Syria’s openness to its Arab surroundings, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering this a necessary entry point for rebuilding the Syrian state on sound economic and institutional foundations.
In our statement issued on July 25, 2025, entitled “Saudi Investment Leads to Radical Change in Syria,” we emphasized that Saudi investments represent a national lever for economic reconstruction, job creation, and infrastructure improvement.
In our statement, “Signing of Service and Development Agreements between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Syria,” dated September 7, 2025, we welcomed the signing of the service and development agreements between the two countries. We considered the Saudi delegation’s visit to Damascus a strategic step toward rebuilding vital sectors.
In our recent statement, “Announcement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Continued Support for Efforts to Rebuild the Syrian Economy,” dated September 18, 2025, we commended the Kingdom’s announcement of its continued support for efforts to rebuild the Syrian economy and improve living conditions. We considered it a fraternal stance reflecting a genuine Arab commitment to the Syrian people.

Today, health cooperation reinforces this path and restores dignity to Syrians, who have suffered from the collapse of the health system, the lack of care, and the spread of disease amidst the conditions of war and displacement. The Syrian Future Movement views this memorandum as a qualitative step toward building an integrated health system and emphasizes the need for these partnerships to be managed according to transparent, professional standards and under the supervision of legitimate national institutions, ensuring access to services to all Syrians without discrimination.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for expanding this cooperation to include medical training, hospital support, the provision of medicines, and the strengthening of mental health programs, thus contributing to the reconstruction of the Syrian people and achieving health equity across all regions.
