International Day of Peace

On this day, when people around the world celebrate peace, the Syrian Future Movement commemorates the annual International Day of Peace. The United Nations General Assembly declared September 21 a global day to consolidate a culture of non-violence and promote the values of dialogue and tolerance among nations and peoples.

Syria, which has suffered for decades from conflict and division, is today in dire need of restoring the true meaning of peace, not merely as the absence of war, but as a state of justice, dignity, freedom, and national reconciliation.
Peace in Syria must be sustainable, built on the foundations of political participation, respect for human rights, and the rejection of exclusion and marginalization. It must guarantee all Syrians, regardless of their affiliations, their right to a safe, free, and dignified homeland.

We, at the Syrian Future Movement, believe that consolidating a culture of peace in Syria begins with:

  • Promoting civic education in schools and universities.
  • Launching community initiatives for dialogue and reconciliation.
  • Supporting responsible media that promotes the values of tolerance and openness.
  • Working to end all forms of political and social violence.

On this occasion, the Syrian Future Movement calls on all Syrian national forces, both at home and abroad, to make this day a time for reflection and action, and to transform it into an annual national occasion celebrated in schools, universities, and institutions, as a symbolic step toward building a new Syria, a Syria of peace.
