Clean energy project implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation in rural Tartous

The Syrian Future Movement expresses its deep appreciation for the development initiative launched by the Aga Khan Foundation for Development (AKFD) on September 22, 2025. This initiative aims to provide 300 families in the countryside of Tartous Governorate with clean electricity via photovoltaic systems independent of the public grid. The initiative, with a total capacity of 350 kilowatts, provides each home with an average of 3 amperes during the day and 1 ampere at night.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that this initiative, which comes amid extremely difficult economic and living conditions, represents a living model for sustainable community development and underscores the vital role played by the Aga Khan Foundation, an Ismaili religious organization, in serving Syrians without discrimination and promoting the values of national solidarity and mutual support.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the Foundation, through its diverse projects in the fields of education, health, energy, and rural development, has proven itself a reliable partner in building a more just and stable future. It is driven by a humanitarian vision that transcends identities and affiliations, placing human dignity at the heart of its priorities.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the success of these initiatives is not specific to a particular region or sect, but rather a success for all Syrians. It reflects the potential inherent in Syrian society when its various religious, ethnic, and civil components combine their efforts for national advancement.

Based on this, the Syrian Future Movement calls for:

  • Supporting and expanding these initiatives to include all Syrian regions, particularly those suffering from poor basic services.
  • Strengthening partnerships between development institutions and local communities, ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of projects.
  • Protecting civil space from sectarian or political threats, and empowering institutions with religious or cultural backgrounds to perform their developmental role freely and responsibly.
  • Consolidating a culture of mutual recognition among Syrian communities, as a foundation for building a state of citizenship and justice.

The Syrian Future Movement sees this stage as a historic opportunity to rebuild Syria on new foundations, where each component has its role and place, and where joint development work can be a gateway to trust and national recovery.
