The Syrian Future Movement is following with deep concern international and local reports regarding human rights violations in Sweida Governorate, particularly the report issued by Amnesty International, which documented the extrajudicial executions of dozens of Druze on July 15 and 16, 2025. We view these horrific violations, committed by Syrian government security and military forces, as a serious threat to efforts to build a new Syria after the fall of the former tyrannical regime.
The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the position of the Syrian Ministry of Interior in welcoming the report and calling for the presentation of evidence, as well as the formation of an independent investigative committee by the Ministry of Justice. However, these steps must be supported by immediate and transparent practical measures to ensure the end of impunity, which has become a regrettable feature of our Syrian history and fuels sectarian tensions and societal divisions.
Executions in public places, including hospitals and schools, are not merely individual crimes that can be tolerated; they are crimes against humanity that require full accountability for perpetrators, regardless of their affiliations or positions.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the Syrian government to:
- Strengthen the independence of the investigative committee and ensure the participation of international observers to ensure impartiality and transparency.
- Provide full support to victims and their families, including compensation and psychological and legal assistance.
- Take immediate action to prevent the recurrence of such violations through radical reforms of the security and military apparatuses to ensure respect for the human rights of all Syrians without sectarian or ethnic discrimination.
- Cooperate effectively with international organizations such as Amnesty International to share information and evidence, with a focus on building trust in the new Syrian institutions.
The future Syria we aspire to is one of justice and equality, where the rule of law prevails and the dignity of every citizen is protected. We will continue to support transparency and accountability efforts, and we call on all Syrian parties to adhere to human rights principles as a foundation for building a unified and prosperous nation.
