The Ministry of Justice published a summary of the report of the investigation committee into the events on the Syrian coast.

In the context of the national transformation Syria is witnessing after the end of the era of tyranny, and with the Syrian Ministry of Justice announcing the publication of a written copy of the summary report of the Independent National Commission to Investigate the Events of the Syrian Coast on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Syrian Future Movement issues this statement to affirm its position on this development and place it within its broader political and institutional framework.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the publication of this report represents a natural extension of what we previously expressed in our statement issued on July 21, 2025, entitled “On the Final Report of the Commission to Investigate the Events of the Syrian Coast,” which considered the receipt of the report by President Ahmad al-Sharaa a fundamental step toward establishing a culture of accountability and justice in the new Syria.

Today, the publication of the summary of the report by the Ministry of Justice confirms that the state has begun to move toward uncovering the truth, providing justice to victims, and holding those responsible accountable.

The Syrian Future Movement affirms its full support for the independence of the judiciary and calls for strengthening its role in protecting rights and holding those responsible for violations accountable, free from any political or security interference. We see the formation of an independent national investigation committee and the presentation of its findings to the public as a positive indicator that must be built upon and developed.

The Syrian Future Movement demands that this step be a prelude to a series of institutional measures, including:

  • Publishing the full report to the public and enabling local and international media to access it.
  • Reopening files of violations in other areas and forming similar independent committees.
  • Ensuring the protection of witnesses and victims and providing fair mechanisms for redress and compensation.

The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the deaths of more than 1,600 civilians and disarmed fighters, including children and medical personnel, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights report, place a moral and legal responsibility on the state that cannot be ignored.

We emphasize that justice is not achieved through statements, but through actual actions and a clear political will to hold accountable all those involved, regardless of their position or status.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that building a new Syria begins with truth, respect for human dignity, and institutions that are subject only to the law. Transparency is not a political choice, but rather a national duty that cannot be renounced.
