The Economist report issued on August 24, 2025

The Syrian Future Movement reviewed the Economist report, published on August 24, 2025, which addressed the political transformations in Syria after the fall of the Assad regime and the emerging signs of declining public confidence in the transitional government, particularly among societal components that suffered marginalization or violations during the past period.

We in the Syrian Future Movement consider this report an important political warning, calling on all national forces, led by the transitional government, to boldly and responsibly review the previous phase, overcome the negatives that accompanied the transition process, and ensure that the mistakes of the past are not repeated, whether in rhetoric, practice, or the management of Syrian diversity.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that a new Syria cannot be built on exclusion or disregard for the demands of societal components, but rather on the basis of national partnership, justice, and respect for the political and civil rights of all.

Ignoring these principles threatens to undermine public confidence, fuel a climate of tension and division, and hinder the building of the citizen-based state we aspire to.

The Syrian Future Movement calls on the transitional government to launch a comprehensive national dialogue, including all political and civil forces, to review the Constitutional Declaration, evaluate the performance of institutions, and ensure fair representation for all Syrians in shaping their future. We also emphasize the need to respect public freedoms and activate transitional justice mechanisms to ensure fairness and accountability, without retaliation or collective absolution.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that overcoming this phase requires political courage, an acknowledgement of mistakes, and openness to constructive criticism, in order to establish a truly democratic path that protects Syria’s unity and safeguards the dignity of its people.
