The Syrian Future Movement is closely following the reform efforts in the new Syria, particularly those aimed at strengthening the oversight and accountability system, as these are essential pillars for building a state of law and justice.
The Syrian Future Movement welcomes the announcement by the Central Authority for Control and Inspection on Monday, August 18, 2025, of the launch of an electronic platform dedicated to receiving citizen complaints against public and private entities. This is part of a comprehensive plan to transform the authority into an automated digital institution focused on improving performance, protecting public funds, and instilling a culture of integrity and transparency.
The Syrian Future Movement considers this initiative a positive step toward empowering citizens to exercise their oversight role and breaking the barrier of fear that has accumulated over decades. This is provided that it is implemented diligently and transparently, avoiding the bureaucratic complications that have previously hindered reform efforts.
The Syrian Future Movement stresses the need to ensure the privacy of complainants, expedite response mechanisms, and hold accountable those involved in violations and corruption, regardless of their positions, because the new Syria must be free from impunity.
The Syrian Future Movement has observed widespread positive engagement from citizens across social media platforms, reflecting a general aspiration to improve services and strengthen trust between the people and institutions. Previous initiatives were also praised, such as the opening of complaints offices at the Ministry of Interior, which many activists viewed as a bold step toward dismantling the legacy of tyranny, especially given the ministry’s emphasis on holding accountable any violations by its security personnel.
We, in the Syrian Future Movement, propose the establishment of central complaints offices under independent oversight to ensure impartiality and effectiveness in combating systematic corruption. We also express our concern about the continuing violations in some areas, which must be addressed by comprehensive accountability mechanisms that include all parties, including military factions and militias, to achieve transitional justice that does not discriminate between victims based on ethnic or sectarian affiliation.
As part of its vision for building a just, unified, and participatory Syria, the Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the importance of expanding the platform’s scope to include complaints related to human rights violations across all Syrian regions. It also emphasizes the need to involve civil society and human rights organizations in monitoring its implementation and ensuring international cooperation to ensure the integrity of the procedures. We believe that transparency is not an option, but rather a necessity to restore national confidence and open a new chapter in Syria’s history.
