Investigating the events in the Syrian coastal area and demanding that Amnesty International publish the full report.

The Syrian Future Movement is closely following developments related to the fact-finding committee formed by presidential decree on March 9, 2025, to investigate the events on the Syrian coast. It affirms its full support for the process of transparent institutional justice, which Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa pledged to establish by holding those responsible accountable “fairly and without leniency.”

The Syrian Future Movement welcomes Amnesty International’s statement issued on July 9, 2025, calling for the publication of the committee’s full report. It considers it a human rights call in support of the official process, not a case of confrontation or skepticism, but rather an implementation of the universal principle that the truth belongs to the victims and society, and that justice is only achieved through clear and public accountability.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for:

  • An official announcement of the report’s publication date and full text, ensuring its availability to the public and human rights organizations, thus consolidating a culture of transparent justice.
  • Immediately refer the findings to the competent judiciary, and translate the recommendations into criminal and civil proceedings within legal and constitutional frameworks.
  • Organizing a national hearing with the participation of the committee, the presidency, and civil society organizations to explain the methodology and discuss the report’s legal and political impact.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that justice is not a symbolic act, but rather an existential condition for the state. The events on the coast, with their human losses—according to documentation by the Syrian Network for Human Rights, which recorded 420 deaths, including civilians, humanitarian workers, and medical personnel—require a firm, impartial, and public approach that protects society from recurrence and restores confidence in the state apparatus as a guarantor of protection, not a party to the conflict.

The Syrian Future Movement believes that the publication of the fact-finding committee’s report represents a pivotal moment in the building of the Third Syrian Republic, one that restores the state’s role as a guardian of rights, a guarantor of accountability, and a builder of trust. Between the legitimate president’s promise to hold accountable and Amnesty International’s demand to publish the results, a political and moral opportunity emerges that should not be squandered.

The Syrian Future Movement reiterates its call for this committee to transform from an administrative event into a normative institution.
