About the Escalation of the Phenomenon of Seizing Houses in Damascus

The Syrian Future Movement expresses deep concern regarding the repeated reports of actions (currently considered individual cases) by some military entities claiming to belong to the new Syrian state, which violate all legal frameworks and exceed their authority by seizing private property in various areas, specifically in Damascus. This includes a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of justice and human rights, as well as a breach of international conventions that guarantee the protection of private property as a non-disposable right.

The Syrian Future Movement strongly rejects any actions outside the bounds of the law, regardless of the justifications presented. Private property may only be infringed upon through binding judicial decisions issued by the relevant judicial institutions, in accordance with constitutional regulations and international standards adhered to by the Syrian state.

The Syrian Future Movement considers violations of others’ rights as a threat to social stability and a weakening of citizens’ trust in state institutions, representing a setback to efforts aimed at strengthening the rule of law.

The Syrian Future Movement asserts that the independent judiciary is the only body authorized to consider and rule on property cases, ensuring the rights of all parties without exception, through transparent procedures subject to legal review.

The Syrian Future Movement reminds all security and military agencies of their national, revolutionary, ethical, and legal responsibilities, stressing the need to refrain from intervening in civil matters that impact the jurisdiction of the judiciary.

The Syrian Future Movement urges official bodies to take urgent measures to stop these practices, investigate previous reports with transparency, ensure fair compensation for the affected parties, and hold accountable any party found to be involved in violating the law.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for enhancing cooperation between military and judicial institutions to clearly define authorities and prevent future abuses.

The Syrian Future Movement considers the respect and preservation of citizens’ rights not only a legal issue but also a fundamental pillar for building a just and stable state, restoring its legitimacy through justice, not through force.

The Syrian Future Movement expresses its strong belief that Syria, with its civilizational history and legal legacy, is capable of overcoming these challenges, as long as all actors adhere to legitimacy and the universal principles of human rights.

We are confident that the protection of the law is the only guarantee for the dignity of the people and the sovereignty of the nation.
