Printing Syrian Official Documents in Turkey

Based on what was published by the newspaper Türkiye on 2024-12-28, regarding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s directive to all ministers to respond to the new Syrian administration’s request for direct support in organizing Syrian documents, we state the following:

The Syrian Future Movement strongly disapproves of the new administration’s invitation to Turkey to take over the printing of official documents such as personal IDs and Syrian passports, deeming it a hasty and poorly considered decision.

The Syrian Future Movement firmly rejects any country taking charge of printing Syrian official documents, considering it a strictly national matter, regardless of whether the country is friendly or allied with the Syrian people.

The Syrian Future Movement sees no objection to logistical support from any public or private party in this regard, particularly in transferring Turkish expertise and leveraging the friendship between the two countries for mutual benefit while safeguarding the public interest in the informational security of the Syrian people.

The Syrian Future Movement calls for the handling of official documents to remain under the purview of a specialized department within the Syrian state, which would be accountable for their security and preservation.

The Syrian Future Movement considers the transfer of Syrian data to any country for the purpose of printing or organizing as a grave matter that must be rejected and prevented, with serious attention to its long-term consequences.

The Syrian Future Movement advocates for the establishment of an information bank in the new Syrian Republic, tasked with preserving the general archive of Syrian families and all related data.
