From the memory of the Syrian revolution: 01/12/2011

On this day in 2011: Damascus witnessed protests in the neighborhoods of Al-Midan, Al-Suweika, Barzeh, Kafr Sousa, and Jobar, demanding a buffer zone to protect civilians from the regime’s violations. Student protests also took place in Al-Midan, Al-Qadam, and Barzeh. Activists in Rukn al-Din changed the names of streets associated with the Assad family to the names of martyrs of the revolution, such as Mashaal Tammo.
