An initial proposal regarding the developments taking place in Syria

In light of the new and exceptional situation Syria is experiencing, and following the liberation of its second-largest city, Aleppo, with its historical and strategic significance, as well as the withdrawal of the Syrian regime’s army and the institutional vacuum, we in the Syrian Future Movement propose the following to the influential and active Syrian forces:

  1. Agree to designate Aleppo as a temporary capital, ensure its security as required, and call for an expanded meeting of revolutionary and opposition forces in the city, with Arab and international participation if possible.
  2. Work on issuing an urgent and swift constitutional declaration.
  3. Restructure the Syrian Interim Government and establish a quick organic link between the armed forces and Syrian political forces to gain the necessary legitimacy and protect the revolution’s achievements.
  4. Engage with religious leaders, both Muslim and Christian, across all sects, to make Aleppo a living example of pluralism, reflecting the cultural value of Syria and its people.
  5. Form a diplomatic operations room comprising senior ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps who have defected from the Assad regime, to communicate with Arab and international capitals, deliver quick assurances, and outline the next phase.
  6. Utilize the premises of official television channels within Syria, particularly in Aleppo, to announce a roadmap agreed upon by all Syrians, including both the political and military wings.
