Congratulations on the formation of a new board for the Free Syrian Lawyers Association.

The Free Syrian Lawyers Association – Aleppo branch experienced escalating conflicts and divisions since July 15, 2023, due to some lawyers rejecting the results of the elections held at that time. This led them to form a separate branch under the name “Rural Aleppo,” amid accusations that the Syrian Interim Government was interfering in lawyers’ affairs to deepen divisions within their ranks.

After deliberations and seeking rational solutions, the Free Syrian Lawyers Association – Aleppo branch has ended the year-long tension. New elections were held on October 15, and seven members were elected to the Aleppo Lawyers Association’s board. We, in the Syrian Future Movement, congratulate them for earning the trust of their colleagues.

Additionally, we in the Syrian Future Movement support the discussions among the association’s members following the distribution of responsibilities and their study of the work plan for the upcoming stage. We stress the importance of working with a spirit of collective collegiality to overcome the challenges facing the legal and professional work, as a driving force for the democratic process in Syria, and as an inevitable alternative to the system of appointments and intelligence control that prevailed during the Assad regime’s rule.

We hope this agreement will be sustainable and built on a spirit of trust and rationality, serving as a guiding light for all Syrians.
