On this day in 2011: Thousands of people in Aleppo participated in the funeral of Aleppo’s Mufti, Sheikh Ibrahim Salqini, at the Great Umayyad Mosque. The funeral turned into a protest, with attendees chanting “The people want to overthrow the regime,” “God is greater than the oppressor,” and “Death before humiliation.”
