Meeting of the National Democratic Forces on Recent Developments in Turkey

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, a virtual meeting was held via the Zoom platform. The meeting included several Syrian political currents, parties, and interested national figures. The meeting was under the umbrella of the so-called “Meeting of National Democratic Forces,” and Dr. Zaher Baadarani, the President of the Syrian Future Movement (SFM), attended as a representative of the SFM.

The meeting addressed regional events and political developments affecting the Syrian situation. The discussion included the general normalization with the Syrian regime, particularly the Syrian-Turkish normalization, its prospects, and political and international motivations.

Participants discussed the recent suffering of refugees in Turkey and their overall conditions.

The meeting concluded with the necessity of sending a unified message from the “Meeting of National Democratic Forces” to the United Nations headquarters and all relevant international bodies. Dr. Zaher Badrani and three other elected figures from the meeting were tasked with drafting the official letter to address the situation of Syrian refugees in Turkey.

The letter has been translated into multiple languages and is awaiting approval by the Meeting of National Democratic Forces.
