Statement “Regarding the Escalating Popular Movement in Regime-Controlled Areas”

The demonstrations in Daraa and As-Suwayda Governorates, and before them the August 10 Movement, as well as the fiery statements of Alawite activists, in addition to calls for a popular movement and a strike in several areas in Damascus and the coastal region, condemned the tragic state of affairs in Syria in general and the areas under the influence of the Syrian regime in particular. This comes after the head of the regime, Bashar al-Assad, claimed that they were now evading the international economic sanctions imposed on them, and that these sanctions no longer had that negative impact after their victory over the global conspiracy and their return to the Arab League! However, the economic reality of the country and its citizens indicates the opposite of what the Syrian regime is promoting through its media channels and propaganda outlets. Perhaps the case pending before the Civil Executive Authority in Damascus, No. 3237/2023, submitted by “Canada Muhammad Makhlouf,” in which she demands millions of dollars as part of her inheritance, reminds Syrians of the vast wealth enjoyed by the Syrian regime alone (in international banks), whether as a family with branches and assets, or through figures affiliated with it and orbiting within its orbit), in addition to the warlords who have benefited, and continue to benefit, from the continuation of the internal conflict to plunder what remains of its resources and resources.

  • The Syrian Future Movement stands with its Syrian people inside Syria and declares that their demands and popular movement today are something we support and back as Syrians everywhere. We leave it to them to assess and direct its management as they see fit.
  • The Syrian Future Movement believes that this popular movement is an inevitable result of the regime’s failed policy of governing the country, despite its claim of victory on the one hand, and despite the country being emptied of two-thirds of its population as a result of the conflict and its resulting repercussions.
  • The Syrian Future Movement believes that the Syrian regime’s allies are thieves who have absorbed, and continue to absorb, Syria’s resources in areas under the regime’s influence and their own. Thus, in their view, the Syrian regime is no longer a strategic ally, but rather a spoil of war to be divided among themselves, while the hungry wolves enjoy the remaining scraps.
  • The Syrian Future Movement holds the Syrian regime responsible for its wrong choices in selecting allies and guardians. They have not and will not provide any aid that would save the “Syrian people” and alleviate their suffering in areas under regime control. Instead, they have exacerbated their distress, hardship, poverty, hunger, and pain.
  • The Syrian Future Movement warns Syrians in regime-controlled areas that the regime is exploiting their popular movement to tighten its security grip on them and their children. It warns them against actions by infiltrators that give the regime the pretext to suppress their peaceful movement, as it did in 2011.
  • The Syrian Future Movement holds the Syrian regime responsible for its failure to save Syrians in its areas. It calls on it to acknowledge this and work to find a comprehensive political solution that will lead Syrians to salvation.
  • The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes that the Syrian regime has become part of the complexity of the political landscape as a whole, not to mention that it is the root of the Syrian dilemma! Therefore, it is no longer capable of leading the government or finding acceptable and reasonable solutions (and its change is a must and a necessity).
  • The Syrian Future Movement calls on the Syrian people, from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe, to assist their Syrian brothers in regime-controlled areas (by all possible legitimate means) so that their movement can have a positive impact, become a voice heard, and serve as a cornerstone for overcoming the regime’s plots to exploit, distort, or eliminate this peaceful, spontaneous popular movement.
  • The Syrian Future Movement calls on the international community to pressure the Syrian regime’s allies to accept a comprehensive political solution in accordance with UN Resolution 2254.
  • The Syrian Future Movement warns of the impossibility of the return of Syrian refugees to areas controlled by the Syrian regime under the current circumstances. This is necessary to prevent them from becoming fuel for its war against its people once again, by recruiting them or directing them toward sedition, the threads of which it excels at orchestrating to implement malicious plans that lead to internal strife among the people of the same country.
