The Syrian regime attempts to level the city of Aleppo in response to the rebels’ stance and their determination to gain full control over the entire city. For months, the regime has relentlessly bombarded its neighborhoods with rockets, missiles, and death-dealing barrels dropped from aircraft, claiming the lives of thousands of Syrians and destroying hundreds of buildings, crushing civilians under the rubble of their homes.

We condemn yesterday’s massacre in the Bustan al-Qasr neighborhood of Aleppo, where the regime targeted the area with a Scud missile, killing dozens of peaceful citizens, including children who hadn’t even held a pencil to write yet, let alone taken up arms against the Assad regime.

We call on the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces to take a greater role in mobilizing international public opinion to condemn what Aleppo and its neighborhoods are enduring from the systematic bombing of infrastructure and residential buildings. More importantly, we urge the United Nations to denounce these massacres and classify them as war crimes and acts of genocide being committed daily by Assad’s forces across Syria.
