Our Position on Syria’s New Administration
The Syrian Future Movement views the new administration in Syria as a victorious military leadership and currently bases its perspective, vision, and relationship on this premise.
The Syrian Future Movement considers the positive initiatives and openness to internal and external engagement by the new administration as encouraging steps towards inclusive nation-building without monopolization or exclusion.
The Syrian Future Movement remains cautiously optimistic, expressing concerns over potential manifestations of military or theocratic rule, setbacks in achieving the full objectives of the people’s revolution, or the success of conspiratorial and divisive ambitions aimed at fragmenting Syria.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the need to support the current Syrian administration in ensuring the success of the National Conference, facilitating a smooth and peaceful transfer of power, and establishing a legitimate government and a functional constitution safeguarding the interests of all Syrians regardless of their affiliations.
The Syrian Future Movement believes in the importance of collective Syrian support for this transitional phase and commits its extensive grassroots presence, established nationwide since 2012, as well as its strategic Damascus-based influence predating the revolution, to the success of this phase.
The Syrian Future Movement acknowledges that its external relationships, particularly with the United States—where the movement was founded in 2012 and headquartered initially—and Turkey, with its second headquarters in Istanbul, Beşiktaş, are instrumental in supporting and advancing this stage.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on the new Syrian administration to activate laws governing political parties and civil movements, especially those that were at the forefront of joining the Syrian revolution and serving the people internally for the past 12 years. This would enrich a spirit of fruitful and constructive competition for the benefit of Syria and its people.
The Syrian Future Movement aspires to expand its presence within Syria, particularly in Damascus, following its presence in Afrin and A‘azaz. It aims to foster communication with all parties, contribute to serving the nation and its people, and ensure the success of this transitional phase for building a pluralistic and civilized national future.
