On the Failure of Four Ministers from Assad’s Government to Hand Over Power to the New Transitional Government
The Syrian Future Movement condemns the failure of the Ministers of Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, and Religious Endowments to attend the handover meeting with the new transitional government last Tuesday, on 2024/12/10, despite their presence in Syria during the handover process.
The Syrian Future Movement considers this absence clear evidence of the continued organic connection between these ministers and Bashar al-Assad.
The Syrian Future Movement holds these four ministers directly responsible for spreading terrorism through the following:
- Ministry of Defense: Responsible for killing and detaining our people, bombing Syrian cities and villages, and perpetrating state-sponsored military terrorism.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Responsible for terrorizing expatriates by monopolizing official documents, passports, and papers, in addition to spying on expatriates, their activities, and their families. Furthermore, it disseminates false narratives about the Syrian opposition’s role over the past 13 years in international forums and incites hostility against the opposition.
- Ministry of Interior: Responsible for terrorizing the people by supporting criminal gangs, shielding offenders, subordinating the police and legal authorities to criminal intelligence branches, and imprisoning hundreds of thousands in dark detention centers.
- Ministry of Religious Endowments: Responsible for psychological terrorism, inflaming religious and sectarian sentiments, exploiting religion to serve Bashar al-Assad’s regime, legitimizing the intelligence apparatus’ terrorism and crimes, and using various platforms to divert the people’s focus away from change and liberation.
The Syrian Future Movement warns against Bashar al-Assad’s loyalist cells, which aim to sabotage the efforts of the transitional government.
The Syrian Future Movement calls on revolutionary forces to sever all ties with Bashar al-Assad, his inner circle, or the decision-making bodies that supported him.
The Syrian Future Movement demands that the four ministers be referred to the judiciary for implementing Bashar al-Assad’s orders after his downfall and maintaining their allegiance to him until now. It also calls for an assessment of all ministers, an evaluation of their status, and a full disclosure of their assets with absolute transparency.
The Syrian Future Movement emphasizes the importance of the transitional government adhering to constitutional and legal procedures, ensuring no obstacles hinder this process, and remaining vigilant against remnants of the former regime within all state institutions.
The Syrian Future Movement urges Russia to sever Bashar al-Assad’s networks in Syria entirely, ensuring a healthy future relationship between Syria and Russia.
