Regarding Bashar al-Assad’s attendance at the Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh
The Syrian Future Movement expresses its firm rejection of Bashar al-Assad’s attendance at the Arab-Islamic Summit held today in Riyadh.
The Syrian Future Movement considers Assad’s presence at this summit an insult to the blood of the martyrs and the suffering of millions of Syrians who have endured the horrors of war, oppression, and repression for more than decades under both the father’s and son’s rule, especially after the Syrian revolution.
The Syrian Future Movement firmly emphasizes that Bashar al-Assad, who caused the death and displacement of millions of our people, cannot be a legitimate representative of Syria in any international or regional forum.
The Syrian Future Movement considers Assad’s presence at the summit a blatant disregard for all the crimes his regime has committed against humanity, marking a step backward in the pursuit of justice and accountability.
The Syrian Future Movement stresses the importance of continued international and regional efforts to isolate the Syrian regime and hold it accountable for its crimes. We also call on Arab and Islamic countries to stand alongside the Syrian people in their struggle for freedom and dignity and to deny any form of legitimacy to Assad’s regime.
The Syrian Future Movement believes that Syria’s future must be built on the principles of justice, democracy, and respect for human rights, not on the remnants of a tyrannical regime that lost its legitimacy long ago.
The Syrian Future Movement considers the presence of a killer of his own people, who summoned forces of evil upon his country, a moral stain on an Islamic summit!
The Syrian Future Movement calls on anyone who shakes hands with Assad (without working toward resolving the Syrian crisis) to feel the blood of Syrians on their hands.
The Syrian Future Movement urges Syria’s friendly countries to pressure Bashar al-Assad to accept a political solution and implement international resolutions.
The Syrian Future Movement hopes for an active and successful role for the Arab-Islamic Summit in helping end the war affecting our people in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.
